Although cryptocurrency prices are highly speculative, cryptocurrency companies are experiencing incredible growth. A recent report from AngelList, a job listings website specializing in startup career openings, indicates cryptocurrency jobs have risen by over 100 percent in the past six months. The hiring market for blockchain-related technology remains overtly bullish despite price volatility.
Better Jobs, Better Perks
As cryptocurrency companies grow, so to are hiring needs. In the first half of 2017, more money was invested in cryptocurrency startups and related technology than all of 2016 combined. Not only this, but positions in the space often pay better. On average, employees are being offered 10-20 percent higher salaries than those working non-crypto jobs. Further, these cryptocurrency related jobs offer better benefits.
Cryptocurrency companies have far more flexible perks and oppurtunities to work remotely, in general. Those looking for at home work or flexible hours should note that blockchain-based startups are 22 percent more likely to offer remote positions. Expertise in blockchain isn’t required. Non-technical jobs like marketing and operations also have the opportunity for these perks, although the report notes that potential hires should understand concepts and terminology.
The future of Cryptocurrency Careers
Cryptocurrency companies have expanded past traditional funding methods. Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) have allowed for these companies to raise insane amounts of money very quickly. These ICOs have led to a boom in cryptocurrency investors and startup careers. Not only this, but these startups are now able to offer far superior liquidity options for employees. Typical startup positions require a liquidity event in order to be sold that include complex restrictions and regulations. This is not the case for ICOs, although it may soon be with governments attempting to regulate cryptocurrency markets and funding.
As a whole, the report indicates the cryptocurrency is growing incredibly fast and will continue to do so as the market embraces revolutionary blockchain protocols. If you’re looking for something different, consider working in fintech as a blockchain developer or marketer. These statistics indicate the future is bright for cryptocurrency and especially cryptocurrency-related careers. Despite fluctiations in cryptocurrency prices, jobs in the market are headed to the moon.
